Well done, Dudley!

Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

It’s pretty sad that The Oatmeal had to create this poster to teach people How To Use An Apostrophe. But if it helps eradicate the rampant misuse of the apostrophe, I’m all for it. Click on the image to see the full poster. While you’re there, check out their other fun illustrations.

Ricky Gervais on Inside the Actors Studio. I was catching up on my DVR recordings and couldn’t stop laughing during this bit.

NY Trip: Day 1

Wednesday started with a major fail: I missed my bus. All that running in the rain for nothing :( I wanted to take the 1pm BoltBus to be able to attend the Design Remixed session featuring Justin Ouellette at the Apple Store in Soho. The next bus (2:30pm) was supposed to arrive in NY around 6:45pm, so I hoped I could still catch some of the session. A few hours into the bus ride, I took a nap and left my phone in my bag. A couple of hours later, I reached for my phone and noticed I had several missed calls and text messages. As I was about to check them, my friend calls, and frantically asks where I am. “On the bus,” I replied. Incredulous, he says he thought I was supposed to already be in the city and that he was waiting for me at Radio City with tickets to the 8pm Flight Of The Conchords show! The day before, he had mentioned that he was going to try to get tickets but couldn’t promise anything. That was a great surprise, and luckily, the bus was entering Lincoln tunnel. Even though we were greatly delayed, I was able to make it by 8:15 and catch the end of Kristen Schaal’s opening set, which was great. We were about 5 rows from the stage! Check out the rest of the pictures on my NY April 2009 Flickr set.

After the show, we went to the Birdland for the Blue Note 70th Anniversary Tour featuring “The Blue Note 7”: Bill Charlap (piano), Nicholas Payton (trumpet), Ravi Coltrane (tenor sax), Steve Wilson (alto sax, flute), Peter Bernstein (guitar), Peter Washington (bass) and Lewis Nash (drums). It was a wonderful jazz set, and the food was delicious. I had their Pan Seared Dayboat Diver Sea Scallops served with orzo, sauteed spinach, pattypan squash & an English pea sauce.
