I cannot tell you how many times I’ve walked into a seminar room only to be met with an eerie silence resting, until someone inquires, “Did anyone read the article about inefficient fossil fuel legislation in Italy in the Economist this week?” To which everyone exclaims, “Yeah, yeah for sure” bobbing their heads nervously, hoping no one catches their bluff. Which then proceeds to become a discussion about how much everyone loooooooves the Economist, which is always referred to as a “publication,” never a “magazine” or “journal.” Calling it anything else would just be a faux pas.
