Johnny Selman is designing one new poster every day for a year to go along with a headline on the BBC news website. The purpose of this project, dubbed BBCX365, “is to promote the awareness of global current events with the American public.”
The poster above is in reaction to an article about an Indonesian Playboy editor who was arrested.
Here are some others that caught my eye:

New York poster by the very talented Sophie Henson. Also check out her London poster on her Behance gallery.
Leaving Records, by Felix Jackson, Jr.

Andrea Pippins, a student at the Tyler School of Art, was the winner of AIGA’s Campain 2 Sustain: a student poster competition that seeks to create public awareness about sustainable and environmentally conscious practices.
Her poster is divided into perforated cards, so the viewer can walk away with the “30 ways”, which are printed on the back of each card.
Now let’s see how “green” I am:
1. Don’t litter. Check.
2. Turn off computers at night. Half check. I put my Macs to sleep.
3. Take shorter showers. Half check. When the weather is warm, I try to only turn on the water to rinse (i.e. not while shampooing and lathering).
4. Recycle your newspapers. Check.
5. Eat less meat. Sorry. Don’t think I can do this one.
6. Pay your bills online. Check.
7. Try composting. Gonna look into it.
8. Turn off water while brushing your teeth. Ok, this is a huge pet peeve of mine because it doesn’t make any sense. At all. What purpose does the flowing water serve while you are brushing?? If you have a sensible, logical explanation, I would love to hear it.
9. Recycle glass. Check.
10. Use fluorescent light bulbs. Half check. I should find out what kind of bulbs were installed in my house and replace them with more energy-efficient ones if necessary.
11. Plant a tree. Check. One was already planted for me when I bought my house, and I also purchased a Spruce tree kit from Pangea Organics.
12. Buy local. I need to do more of this.
13. Ban baths. Ban is a harsh word. Once in a while, for a special occasion, is nothing to feel guilty about.
14. Ride a bike. My birthday is in December, but I accept gifts all year.
15. Carpool. Not very practical where I live and work.
16. Shop with a reusable bag. Check. I bought a couple from Flip & Tumble and I love them!
17. Don’t rinse dishes before dishwasher. I should try this and see how well they get cleaned.
18. Use rechargeable batteries. Check.
19. Hang dry your clothes. That’s a tough one. Maybe in the summer I’ll give it a shot.
20. Copy on both sides of paper. I don’t photocopy very often, but when I have to, I try to use both sides.
21. Turn off lights. Check.
22. Use a reusable water bottle. Half check. At work, I reuse tea bottles and refill them with water.
23. Reduce junk mail. Check. I signed up on DMAchoice.org and selected what type of mail I no longer want to receive. This does not guarantee that all junk mail will stop, but it’s a great start.
24. Don’t preheat oven. I’m assuming Andrea meant “Don’t preheat oven and then leave it on for a long time before you actually put something in it.”
25. Donate unwanted clothes and household goods. Check.
26. Save energy: unplug unused appliances. Check.
27. Use cloth diapers. When I have kids, I will.
28. Maintain your vehicle. Check.
29. Live in smaller homes. Just bought my house. No can do for now.
30. Tell all your friends how to save the planet. This post should do the trick.
