I’m loving this take on popular TV shows by Albert Exergian. Available at Blanka.

The Amazing Lyre Bird

David Attenborough presents the lyre bird on BBC Wildlife. It can imitate almost any sound it hears, including other bird calls, camera shutters and chainsaws.

But then she says, “I’m just not cool enough to be a Mac person.” One can only assume that it’s intended as an anti-elitist insult, but the bottom line is that Microsoft is explicitly reinforcing the idea that Macs are cool, which strikes me as a very odd tactic. The theme of the commercial seems to be “PCs: Computers for Losers”.
John Gruber on the latest Microsoft ad campaign. I was thinking the same thing when I first saw the commercial on TV.

Speaking of LOST, check out these vintage DHARMA ads by Adam Campbell.

Character Project is USA Network’s ongoing artistic initiative committed to celebrating America’s characters - the interesting, dazzling, and distinctive people, from all walks of life, who make this country extraordinary. Insipired by its “Characters Welcome” brand, and with the support of Aperture Foundation, USA assembled a team of 11 world-class photographers during the summer of 2008 and asked them to capture the character of America.

In partnership with Vanity Fair, USA Network is launching the Character Project photographic exhibition. Next stop is DC on April 3 and 4 at Pepco’s Edison Place Gallery (702 Eighth St. NW). Check the schedule for other cities.

I really need to get in the habit of using Shazam. I keep forgetting I have such an amazing app on my iPhone. A few days ago, I was watching the premiere of “United States Of Tara” on Showtime, and wanted to know the title of the Thelonious Monk track that was playing. Instead of rewinding and allowing Shazam to identify the music, I embarked on a doomed journey to Googleland. Today, the bulb above my head finally lit up. I played the episode on sho.com, scrolled to the part in question and let Shazam do its magic. 20 seconds later, my iPhone displayed the following:
